Kork "Schloss"
It was almost impossible for children with epilepsy to go to school in Baden until well into the 19th century. In order to remedy this deplorable state of affairs, the so-called Innere Mission bought the old public offices in Kork for 25,000 Marks in 1891. This building had been built in about 1730 in the baroque style and had stood empty for several years.
In 1892 the Epilepsy Centre in Kork commenced its work in this building, which was known amongst the population of the village as the 'Schloss' (the 'mansion'). Initially 48 children suffering from epilepsy lived and were taught here.
